  4. Dominican Republic Automated Border Control (U-ABC) System Development & Supply (March 23, 2016) Urielsoft participated in the project to establish the immigration information management system (hereinafter, DRIIMS) and automated border control gates (hereinafter, U-ABC) in the Dominican Republic located in Central and South America. The Dominican Republic, known as the hidden treasure of the Caribbean, is seeing the number of tourist increases year by year, and the capacity of its major airports is reaching saturation. Accordingly, the Dominican Republic government promoted DRIIMS to improve their immigration process.Urielsoft has installed the automated gates at Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo, as well as Cibao International Airport in Santiago. U-ABC system reduces labor cost and immigration process time by processing passengers by letting the passengers screen their passport and biometric data themselves, which was previously conducted by immigration staff at the airport. Photo: Dominican Republic Immigration Commissioner demonstrating automated gates In fact, in the case of the departure hall of LAS Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo, it currently takes an average of 1 minute to process one passenger at the manned immigration control counter when the automated gates take only 15 to 20 seconds to process one passenger. This means that U-ABC can process about 3 times more passengers compared to the manned counters. Not only the U-ABC system, but Urielsoft has also established an integrated operating environment by developing a pre-registration system and a real-time monitoring system. In February, the head of the Dominican Republic Immigration Office visited Las Americas Airport to demonstrate the automated gate himself and he showed high interest in the system. The government of the Dominican Republic expects that the introduction of the latest system will strengthen immigration control and greatly improve the handling process.* DRIIMS: Abbreviation for Dominican Republic Immigration Information & Management System, a project to build an immigration information management system promoted by the Dominican government since 2014* U-ABC: Abbreviation for Urielsoft Automated Border Control, which is Urielsoft's automated immigration solution 2021-04-07 17:06:06
